Marisa Messer-Belenchia makes her way to Lion Fight Promotions and Lion Fight 31 on September 2nd at the beautiful Foxwoods Resort and Casino. This is an excellent opportunity for this young aspiring Combat Sports fighter to shine in front of the top Muay Thai organization in the world. Marisa is a local east coast amateur mma, grappling, boxing and muay thai athlete. She looks to make her mark in the Muay Thai world fighting for Scott Kent and his world leading Muay Thai Organization.

Marisa has been training in mma, boxing, muay thai, Jiu-jitsu and everything in between for the last five years. She is coached by Andrew Calandrelli and trains out of team “Ultimate MMA” located in Marisa’s home town of North Haven Connecticut. She also works as a trainor helping others fulfill their dreams of competing in Combat Sports.

I asked Marisa how she started training and what was her inspiration behind it. ” I really never stuck with any sports growing up, but I always loved the action that Combat Sports had to offer. She also said I always wanted to be involved in Combat Sports but I never had that opportunity until I was nineteen. Once I started training I never stopped and now at twenty four I look to become a factor in this sport.”

I was fortunate enough to watch Marisa fight at a amateur mma bout back in July at “Premier FC” in Springfield Massachusetts. I watched her dominate her opponent with a nice Muay Thai stand up game that would eventually bring the fight to the ground where Marisa showed her well rounded grappling skills. Marisa won a dominant decision that night and I knew I’d be seeing her again really soon.

Marisa recieved her chance to fight again when Lion Fight Promotions came calling. They needed an amateur local womens muay thai fighter for an open slot on the under card of Lion Fight 31. Marisa jumped at the chance to show her friends, family and her Connecticut state how hard she’s been working on her Muay Thai game. Marisa has won many awards and championships in grappling, boxing, muay thai and soon a winning fight for Lion Fight Promotions. Put this all together with it happening in her home state, it is really a wonderful experience for this young women. What a nice addition to an already flourishing amateur combat sports career.

My final question I asked Marisa was what she’s looking forward to in her fighting future after Lion Fight 31 and beyond?  She told me “I look forward to being on the top of the womens divisions in all Profesional MMA and Boxing Organizations in my future.” and with a big smile she left me with one of her favorite quotes “Some people succeed because they are destined to, but most people succeed because they are determined to”  Inspiring words for her to follow along as she becomes a future combat sports champion.

Lion Fight 31 takes place at Foxwoods Resort and Casino on Labor Day weekend September 2nd. It will also be broadcast live on Axtv. Be sure to stay tuned and watch Muay Thai History as Lion Fight Promotions comes to Connecticut with an all star world wide Championship lineup.
